The 1st phase of London Array consists of up to 175 turbines generating 630MW – Enough power to supply 472,000 homes. Upon reaching its 1000MW capacity, it will become the worlds largest offshore wind farm, making a substantial contribution to the UK government’s climate change targets.
e-blast ltd contract consisted of Shot Blasting and Painting 18 custom built Local Equipment Room (LER) Modules.
These modules are used to house electrical switch gear, workshops & emergency accommodation on the offshore sub-station platforms. Once coated the modules were shipped by road to Belgium for installation on-deck before they are transported to the outer Thames Estuary, London.
The Modules were Shot Blasted to an SA 2.5 finish, the coated with a 5 coat system, as per London Array paint specification, designed to last the life of the project, which is 20 years, without the need for major maintenance.
The Modules varied from 15m x 4.0m x 4.5m (Largest) to 6.5m x 4.5m x 4.5m (Smallest)
